LT Fish Likes Flicks: Lemonade Joe - Czech DVD Review

Overdue again, but I think this editing worked out fairly well overall - a little more ambitious, slow progress.  This classy, fun, retro-western [commie] non-western western flick is the Czechoslovakian "Lemonade Joe".  Highly recommended and available streaming at amazon prime right now (see my notes on my youtube link).

LT Fish Likes Flicks: The Good, The Bad, The Weird - Korean DVD Review

This took far to long to put together - I aim to get back to a more regular schedule in the short-term.  Apologies for the limited audio which is definitely a step back - I need to do some software/hardware troubleshooting - but I may just wind up trying a different program.

"The Good, The Bad, The Weird" is a lot of fun and definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys Korean flicks or traditional westerns.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: The Proposition - US Blu-Ray Review

Finally time to start my themed reviews - "non-western westerns".  This series dovetails beautifully into the next - even more obscure theme - after about 3 or 4 more reviews.

This week: John Hillcoat's "The Proposition".

LT Fish Likes Flicks: The Marathon Family - Serbian DVD Review

"The Marathon Family" aka "The Marathon Family Takes a Victory Lap" is an extremely funny and disturbingly prophetic film from pre-breakup 1982 Yugoslavia.  Highly recommended!

I've been informed from the clips I included that the subtitles are generally workmanlike but apparently miss many of the more idiomatic and transgressive expressions.  Hopefully Kino or another US company will pick this up for a domestic release similar to the recent release of "Underground" - which I hope to pick up and may review in the future.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: Kala - Cinéma de l'Obscur - Indonesian DVD Review

Late getting caught up on posting here, but the youtube channel is always current...

This Indonesian supernaturally tinged neo-noir movie is more than worth the effort to track down and view.  See my video and notes on the video page regarding a cash prize.  The Cinéma de l'Obscur designation represents films that I consider extremely difficult to locate and view...subject to change.

Details for my $$$ contest - as noted in my video:
- If you have purchased this DVD or a legitimate release with English subtitles anywhere else in the world in the last couple of months (and you can provide a link) or you are able to find it online and buy it – I will send cash money, via paypal to pay you for the cost of your disc plus the shipping you paid, up to $50 US to the first person who can show me a photo of their disc with a dated receipt and link to an in-stock listing at any e-tailer that ships internationally.  The fastest way is probably to DM me via twitter or Gab, but frankly I don’t get that many comments here either and I read every one.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: Old Men in New Cars - US DVD Review

My review for Lasse Spang Olsen's 2002 "prequel" to 1999's "In China They Eat Dogs".  Violent, funny, irreverent, disturbing - can't recommend this one highly enough.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: The Ugliest Woman in the World - UK DVD Review

This genre-mashup (SF, crime, horror, etc) flick is decent with a good pay-off, even if it plays it a little safe during most of the running time.  Worth a watch if you can track it down.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: Undead - UK DVD Review

New year, new microphone, new review.  The first feature film from the Spierig Bros. (dir. Daybreakers, Predestination): Undead.

Also...if you can tell what else I jiggered with this review other than using a different mic and post in the youtube comments - you'll win a coveted no-prize!

LT Fish Likes Flicks: Alice in Earnestland - Korean DVD Review

I'm not sure how or why Korean film-makers seem to have such a tight lock on the revenge flick genre, but I'd put this indie take up with the best of 'em.  Black comedy, stylizations and all.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra - UK DVD Review

An excellent adaptation of the original 60s French comic.  Updated in a few elements to fit some current gags, but not excessively so.  Very funny and highly recommended.

LT Fish Likes Flicks: Mind Game - Japanese Blu-Ray/DVD "Exclusive Edition" Review

As I've said elsewhere - this is quite possibly the best Anime feature film of the 21st century - but why take my word for it - check it out for yourself.  Available direct from the studio on region-free, subtitled blu-ray (link on my youtube page).  It could be coming to the US soon via gkids (h/t ganriki.org) - but I'm not holding my breath.
